The hard enamel pins are added over several times raising the enamel higher in order to be polished flat to the same level as the metal die lines. The enamel gets a polished look to a very high quality. The hard enamel technique fills these recessed areas to a level that is flush with the raised areas. The metal pins are then baked at a high temperature and then “polished” with a special wheel that makes sure the colors and metal are flush. In the end, the pins' surface is shiny and smooth – the raised and recessed areas are no longer present.
